Area Accents Publisher
The Area Accents is a confidential newsletter by the officers of the CNIA, a
General Service Area of Alcoholics Anonymous. Articles appearing in the Accents
are the opinions of their authors. Only actions of the Area Committee or Area
Assembly speak of CNIA as a whole. In accordance with the Group Conscience of
the CNIA Assembly, first and last names are published. Thus, respect the spirit
of Tradition 11 when utilizing this newsletter.
Responsibilities include:
- To keep the Area Accents within the framework of its stated purpose.
- To seek editorial guidance from the Area Officers when it is deemed
necessary.
- To rely on the Area Treasurer for funding of printing and mailing cost.
- To send paid receipts with check numbers on receipts to the Treasurer after
each month mailing of Accents.
- To rely on the Registrar for mailing labels or backup mailing labels from
the Recording Secretary.
- To publish the Area Accents in a readable fashion. This includes design,
layout, printing, labeling for mailing, sorting, and delivery to the Post
Office.
- Attend all Area Assemblies and report to the membership on the state of the
newsletter. On months of Assemblies print 20-50 extra copies of Accents and have
at Assembly.
- Send a written report of monthly distribution and cost to Recording
Secretary for Area Committee Meetings.
- Arrange for the Spanish translation of the newsletter.
- Attend Area Committee Meetings as requested by the Chairperson.
The following is a suggested schedule of time frames based on past
experience. The codes (e.g., M-24, read as M minus 24 days, means 24 days before
meeting day), shown below, are provided to indicate when an event should be
completed.
- Front-page article, agenda, minutes & registration flyers:
(M-24). These materials require translation to Spanish on a monthly basis;
Treasurer Report, inside back cover, and outside back cover. These should be no
later than 24 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Treasurer report: (M-24). The Treasurer report shoudl be no
later than 24 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Printing of Accents pages: (M-24). Accents should be picked
up with all flyers no later than 24 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Registrar mailing (Excel): (M-23). Labels should be
provided no later than 23 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Compose and review English Accents: (M-23). The front page,
agenda, and minutes need to be composed and reviewed by the Chairperson no later
than 23 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Mailing the Accents: (M-23). The Accents should be mailed
no later than the 23 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Send to Spanish Translator: (M-22). Send or e-mail no later
than 22 days preceding the meeting or Assembly.
- Spanish Translation: (M-18). The Spanish translation needs
to be completed and returned no later than 18 days preceding the meeting or
Assembly.
